"I am not what has happened to me. I am what I choose to become."

Brought to my mat by a life of trauma and a recognition of my own brokenness, I identify first as a student and second as an instructor. My belief that yoga provides a spiritual path towards healing takes precedence in both my personal practice and instruction. Through asana and breath work, I aim to meet each student where they are and to facilitate a heightened sense of awareness and self-knowledge. With the objective of creating space for each student to grow at his or her own pace, I work to lead with an informal, humorous, and conversational style that is not often found in the traditional studio setting.

I opened Space Yoga Studio in March of 2014 with the mission of bringing the empowerment and healing that I had personally experienced through yoga to others. My goal was to create a community-focused studio which made yoga accessible to practitioners of all ages, financial situations, faiths, and fitness levels. As the first and only donation-based business in Augusta, Georgia, Space Yoga Studio has become widely known for its deep connection to the community, its vibrant and diverse membership, and its creative approach to yoga and traditional economic models.

A yoga practitioner for many years, I received my first 200-HR certification in Baptiste-inspired Power Yoga. Since my initial certification, I have received further training in Yoga Anatomy with the world-famous Dr. Ray Long as well as various other trainings in a wide array of styles and traditions, including AcroYoga and Aerial Yoga, receiving a certification in Aerial Yoga from Aircat Aerial Yoga, and an additional 230-HR certification in Therapeutic Yoga and a 300-HR certification in Adaptive Yoga. I am the Program Director and Lead Trainer at the Space Yoga Institute for Health and Wellness and the Founder  and Executive Director of Project Create Space, a nonprofit with the mission of offering no-cost, population-specific yoga classes to underserved communities all around the CSRA. In addition to yoga, I am also an instructor of Spanish, and received my MA in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Florida in 2008. I have taught K-8 Spanish as well college-level Spanish since 2006 and currently teach at Augusta University. I am also the proud mother of a far-too-witty tween boy who brings my heart joy, happiness, and just a tad bit of agitation every single day.
